welcome to Lagos!
It's day one, and I'm thrilled to be here! First impressions: It's scorching hot, to the point where you can't stand outside for more than 5 minutes without breaking into a sweat! For the first couple of days, I've given myself some grace to adjust to the time zone, sort out my new work schedule, and find friends to explore with while still making it home in time for work.
The following day, my friends and I went out for dessert and drinks! Maybe because they were all guys, the concept of dessert is foreign to Lagosians! So, we opted for puff puffs on the island at Landmark Beach.
Puff puffs are Nigerian "donut holes," but denser and fried to perfection. The ones we had on the island were topped with drizzled chocolate and sprinkles, adding a touch of glamour to our indulgence.
next up going to a good friend’s birthday party, he had it at the:
📍 Radison Blue Hotel in ikeja, lagos
This is an exquisite, immaculate, and secure hotel. Their top-floor restaurant elevates the dining experience! In addition to the delectable cuisine, I had the pleasure of meeting a few girls who later became friends. We explored the hotel before calling it a night with a photo session. (After all, if there are no pictures, did it really happen?)
Meeting new people, catching up with old friends, and escaping the house during my lunch break was refreshing. During this trip, my employers allowed me to work remotely. With a 6-hour time difference, I learned to maximize my time away from the screen.
That same night, my friends mentioned playing badminton in the morning, and I couldn't resist joining them! 8 am marked the opening of the courts, and we promptly arrived (talk about early risers). Surprisingly, I discovered I'm not half bad and that it's an invigorating way to start the day! I'm considering making it a weekly tradition!
Excited for the month ahead, bye!
